Explore the medieval town of Thaxted. The timber-framed buildings and steeply pitched roofs epitomise al that is special about historical North Essex.  Marvel at the magnificent church, visit the working windmill and the iconic guildhall.  Come in the summer and enjoy the international music festival or visit in the spring to see up to 300 colourful Morris dancers with their musicians and fools, dancing their way through the town.  The town used to be the centre of a cutlery industry then a haven for Flemish weavers.
